Michael Karnezis, Eagle Scout, recognized for his achievement.

On February 20th, 2014, Michael Karnezis was recognized for outstanding achievement an for becoming an Eagle Scout.

Michael Karnezis, a senior at Lincoln Way East High School, is a member of Boy Scout Troop 40, Rainbow Council, and had been active in scouting since joining as a Tiger Scout.  He earned his Arrow of Light, the highest award in Cub Scouts in 2007.  He has truly established himself as an outstanding scout, having earned 32 merit badges, 12 of which are required to attain Eagle Scout status.  Michael has also displayed his leadership abilities through numerous troop positions, including Troop Librarian, Quarter Master, Assistant Senior Patrol Leader and Senior Patrol Leader.

Michael is an active wrestler with the Lincoln Way East Griffins and a member of several clubs at school, including Pi Sigma Pi and Science Club.  He is in his 4th year of AFJROTC where he is a Flight Leader.  He has been an Altar boy since age 5 and has participated in many community service projects.

Michael’s desire to further his community and his faith steered him to his Eagle Scout Project where he led and organized a clothing drive for the underserved population of Harvey, Illinois.  Through much hard work and dedication, Michael Karnezis has soared to the distinction of Eagle Scout.
